HORIZONTAL INSIGHTS 2001-02

- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: WHAT DID I BUY IN... What did I buy in Northumberland last year?, well... nothing.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH. It was in the the Old Calton cemetery, where in 1982, we were attacked and I finished with two squashed vertebras!.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FESTIVAL. How poor & sad was the Festival Parade...!
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: IN MEMORIAM. One fourth of August my father was born and on another fourth of August... he died.  (In Memoriam Rafael González)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. Making a photograph that I don't know whether it will be published... (to illustrate Javier's article on 'crime' and the Edinburgh Festival)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: THIS WEDNESDAY EXHIBITION. Cindy Sherman (for me, more interesting that the one of Monet)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: VISIT. In the hottest day of summer (28º C),  Andrew C. came for lunch and to tell us about the project he is working on: the future Edinburgh tram.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. How absurd to be queuing to see an exhibition like that of Monet!!
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: REGENT TERRACE. Although not very well reproduced... at least it was published.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FRINGE FESTIVAL. It is very difficult to find something worthwhile among so many hundreds of plays . The one that is performed in a public toilet is a good one.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: BOOK FESTIVAL. The writer Ray Loriga participated in a literary encounter... about memory.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FILM FESTIVAL. It takes 45 minutes walking to get to the cinema where they show the Festival movies for the press (from 9 o'clock a.m.)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FRINGE FESTIVAL. I rather prefer ' King Baabu' (Zimbaue's version of ' Ubu Rex' ) that the pretencious Argentinean play 'The last day of Mankind' (unbearable)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FILM FESTIVAL. And after been watching the awesome F. Ozon's movie ' Swimming Pool'... a Tom Ka soup in a Thai restaurant.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FESTIVAL. Although I don't like concert operas, I have to acknowledge that Wagner's Lohengrin was extraordinarily noisy and I loved it.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FESTIVAL. At least, the Brahms Piano Concert No. 1 by C. Zacharias, compensated not having been able to go to Mónica & Sacha's wedding  in Sweden.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FILM FESTIVAL. As in a dream, at 8'15 am. the city was deserted  when we were going to see (up to now) the best movie of the Festival: 'Laurel Canyon'
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: OWN AND OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS. The movie ' Wilbur (wants to kill himself)' left me heartbroken, but the visit to Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre, filled me with hope.

- 08 - 03:  EDINBURGH: FESTIVAL. I could not stay long with Mark G. & Brian (a few days in Edinburgh) because I had to go to see 'Hamlet'. (Calixto Bieito's version)

- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: THIS WEDNESDAY EXHIBITION. 'The Black Box' 4 Installatios in the Fine Arts School  that left me absolutely indifferent.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: FESTIVAL. 'Picasso and the Dance' 4 ballets are far too many ballets to see in one go, but I was busy taking... more than 300 pictures!!
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: STREET FESTIVAL. In cross... naked from the waist down
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: STREET FESTIVAL. In cross... naked from the waist up
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: PRIVATE GARDEN. Sacha's wedding was sweet and down to earth (María said while in Edinburgh)
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: OWN AND OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS. Susi L. (from Nº 8), came to request our signature against the placement of garbage containers in our street (we did sign, of course). Lost battle, I'm afraid.
- 08 - 03: GLASGOW: OWN AND OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS. Before going to the Glasgow Print Studio to sign the edition of the etching 'Hitch', I went to see the new Maggie's building (by Page & Park)
- 08 - 03: DUNDEE: OWN AND OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS. Faith L. took us to see the new building F. Gehry has designed for Maggie's, (it is his first work in Great Britain)
- 08 - 03: GLASGOW: GPS. The photograph 'Cortina rasgada'  becomes through Murray R. in the digital print ' Torn Courtain'
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: Changes always depress me. Alister, the joiner, is going to retire and closes the DIY store where, from 1977, I found all that I needed.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: MELA FESTIVAL. And to finish the Festival... a walk around the 'Mela'  that was like being in  India.
- 08 - 03: EDINBURGH: ONE YEAR AGO IN... ISLE OF SKYE. Carwin M., the best guide...
